Harris County Emergency Services District 48 Fire Department was formed in the summer of 2015 to provide fire suppression, EMS and Rescue services to the portion of the Katy area served by Emergency Services District 48.  The Fire Department protects approximately 130,000 residents in a 45 square mile area of western Harris County.  Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department officially began operations on August 17th, 2015 when the previous provider (West I-10 VFD) ceased all emergency services duties.  We are very proud that, although unfortunate the transition had to occur, almost 95% of the active personnel (both paid and volunteer) chose to join the HCESD 48 team an continue the great tradition of serving our Katy community.
