This Sunday, October 22nd from 12-4pm will be our annual Open House and we would love to have you join us for a FREE, fun and educational event that the whole family will love. Last year we had over 1,200 friends and neighbors attend our event and we hope to see even more of you this year. Join us at one or all of our participating stations where you will find different attractions throughout the day. All three locations will have Cinder the Fire Dog and his trainer Tom Petty from the Harris County Fire Marshal Office (#3 @ 12:30, #4 @ 1:30, #5 @ 2:30) perform a fire safety show that last between 20-30 minutes.
All three of our permanent stations will be open to the public and you are invited to come by all three (Station 3 at 1773 Westgreen Blvd, Station 4 at 22855 Franz Road and Station 5 at 21201 Morton Road). Each station will be open to the public and will have all the trucks, ambulances and command vehicles shined up and ready for vehicle tours and demonstrations. There will be light refreshments and plenty of educational activities that will be fun for adults and kids alike. One of our favorite attractions at all three stations will be our Spray Houses where kids will be able to show their skills in knocking down four “fires” with a real fire hose.
As in prior years, each location will have a few activities that will be unique to that station so you may want to drop by all three of the participating stations to see it all.
Station 3 will have the Harris County Fire Marshals and their live-fire Sprinkler Trailer As always they will also have the Station 3 fire safety house, a gear dress-up station and Sparky the Fire Dog Mascot.
At Station 4, will have a Kids Agility Challenge Course with obstacles like the keiser sled, tunnels and the ‘get low and go’ tarp crawl for your Jr. firefighters to enjoy.
Station 5 will have Memorial Hermann Life Flight arriving around 12:30 and will be staying on site for tours until 2:00pm as long as they don’t get called away. In addition to the helicopter, Station 5 will be hosting Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center who will be conducting a blood drive from 9am – 3pm and you can schedule a donation time by clicking here. Blood donations are critical not only to our local hospitals but also our groundbreaking whole blood program (learn more here)
We are also offering our first public STOP THE BLEED class at 11:00am and 2:00pm. This class takes about 90 minutes and teaches you what to do if you or a loved one has a bleeding emergency. We have offered this class to our local law enforcement and Katy ISD teachers and now we are opening this up to the public and would love for you to join us and learn this potentially life-saving information. For more information or to RSVP please email us at CPRTraining@hcesd48.org or call 832-851-0079.
If you can’t make this year’s event, we would love to have you or your group schedule a tour of one of our stations or have us come out and do a fire safety presentation for you and your friends. If there is an event you think we should know about or an idea you have to help make our city a little safer, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or send us a message on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HCESD48/).
